After the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile last week, protests arose in cities across the United States — Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles, New York City, St. Paul, Kansas City, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, and so on. Americans concerned with police brutality, particularly disproportionate brutality against minorities, gathered together for marches, speeches, and songs, some committing peaceful acts of civil disobedience like shutting down traffic on highways, leading to many arrests.
